POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy6 months agoA. Hiccups are very common in a 1-month-old baby and usually not a cause for concern. They happen due to the immaturity of the diaphragm and often resolve on their own.
What to Do When Baby Has Hiccups? Burp the Baby – If hiccups occur after feeding, gently burp your baby by holding them upright and patting their back. Change Feeding Position – Keep the baby semi-upright (45-degree angle) while feeding to reduce air intake. Give Small Sips of Breast Milk or Formula – Sometimes, swallowing helps stop hiccups. Hold Baby Upright – Keep the baby in an upright position for 10-15 minutes after feeding. Gripe Water (Optional) – Some parents find it helpful, but consult a doctor before use. When to Worry?
❌ Hiccups lasting more than 30 minutes frequently.
❌ Baby seems irritated, in discomfort, or vomiting.
❌ Breathing difficulty along with hiccups.
Usually, baby hiccups go away on their own within 5-10 minutes. If they happen too often, let me know, and we can check for possible causes like reflux.
