However, you can help ease the symptoms with safe, natural remedies and over-the-counter options suitable for their age: 1. Saline Nasal Drops/Spray: These help to clear nasal congestion. They are safe for babies and toddlers. You can use a saline spray to loosen mucus, followed by gently suctioning with a bulb syringe. 2. Humidifier: Using a cool-mist humidifier in your baby's room can help keep their airways moist and reduce congestion. Make sure the room is not too dry. 3. Fever & Pain Relief: If your toddler develops a fever or seems uncomfortable, you can give paracetamol (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen as per the doctor’s recommended dose. Always check the weight-based dosage instructions for toddlers. 4. Honey (For Toddlers Over 1 Year Old): Honey can be soothing for a sore throat and helps with cough. Do not give honey to babies under 1 year old due to the risk of botulism. 5. Warm Fluids: Offer warm fluids like chicken broth, warm water, or diluted fruit juices to keep your baby hydrated and soothe the throat. 6. Rest: Ensure your toddler gets plenty of rest and comfort.
