A. If your son is underweight at 12.5 kg but eats regular vegetarian meals, focus on increasing the calorie and nutrient density of his food rather than just quantity. Include healthy fats like ghee, butter, peanut butter, and avocados. Offer full-fat dairy products like milk, curd, paneer, and cheese. Add protein-rich foods like dals, tofu, soya, sprouts, and nuts (in powder form if young). Give energy-rich snacks like banana, dates, and whole grain laddoos. Encourage frequent small meals with variety. Track his growth and activity levels, and if weight gain is still slow despite good intake, consult a pediatrician for further evaluation.
