#AskTheExpert my son is 7 years old..he coughs alot during night time..(around 2'0 clk) every night..even he wakes up by coughing..during whole day there is not much coughing..only during late night n early morning he coughs alot..there is lots of mucous

Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 6 m old boy3 years agoA. it is in diagnosis of allergic cough cold . here the child will have regular cough and cold which is usually not associated with fever . it increases and decreases but does not get cured completely. dr will give anti allergic medicine usually motelukast / levocetirizine. if its still not improving the next line of treatment will be inhaler therapy with mdi / nebulizer. allergy can be environmental (temperature variation -hot to cold weather/ cold water intake / dust / smoke / pollens) , food , chocolate / packet preservatives food and sweet food aflso. body cannot sustain such allergic changes leading to cough cold usually at evening /night and morning.
