Q.

#AskTheExpert my newborn was diagnosed with congenital hypothyroidism and we started medication from 5th day onwards with eltroxin 50mg. Now he is two months old. In between we rechecked tsh levels three times after reducing dose from 50mg to 37.5 mg and 25mg. the tsh level was at 0 uIU/ml all these three times and he was very active and gaining weight. so doc stopped medication. will tsh rises or thyroid decreases again after stopping medication in future?

A. Yes there are chances that the TSH will raise if the baby is not being given the medication and you have to keep monitoring the thyroid profile regularlyWrite Your Answer Here
