POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy8 months agoA. It's not uncommon for newborns to go without a bowel movement for a few days, especially if they are exclusively breastfed. Breast milk is very well absorbed, and sometimes there is very little waste left to excrete, which can lead to fewer bowel movements. For some breastfed babies, going 3-4 days without pooping is still considered normal.
However, you should keep an eye out for any signs of discomfort or distress, such as:
Abdominal bloating or a hard tummy
Crying or straining as if in pain
Vomiting or refusing to feed
If your baby seems comfortable, is feeding well, and has normal urine output, there may be no immediate cause for concern. But if any of the above symptoms appear or if the baby goes much longer without a bowel movement, it's a good idea to consult with your pediatrician to rule out any potential issues.
