Q.

#AskTheExpert My new born baby boy who is 12 days old today is not getting motion on regular basis. Last time he had motion is yesterday I. e after 3 days from the previous time. that also he got motion like loose motion. Is this normal or should we take any care please let me know sir

A. It is very normal for small children that sometimes they will not pass stool for 10 days also and sometimes they will pass stool more than 7 to 8 times per day. If the consistency of the stool is Semi solid to semi liquid do not worry about the frequency of the stool. No medicines needs to be given in such a case but you have to meet the doctor only if the stool consistency is hard. It is advisable to give only milk to the child and nothing else before completion of 6 months of age

A. Hello mom This is quite normal and you should not worry about it at all. When babies are totally on mother‘s milk then babies don’t pass stool for many days and sometimes for more than seven days and it is also considered normal. So you should not worry about it. If your baby is active and taking proper feed then everything is fine
