Q.

#asktheexpert my lo is 13 months old. he have been on bm and fm for n year but now when we tried to introduce cow milk or buffalo milk to him in very small quantities mixing after dilution and making kheer initially, he got loose stools. we tried at different intervals and for different brands too but same output. He stays fine with lactogen and bm. pls suggest what to do and how to stop fm and start normal milk.

A. may be lactose intolerance for lactose intolerance you will have to give lactose free milk to the child. it can be either soya milk (isomil / zerolac) or milk preparations which does not contain lactose. meet your doctor who can guide you regarding the available preparations. if the child is having dehydration you can give ors also.

A. Hello there ma’am please do not worry about it too much. Please apply neem oil or giloy juice to your nipples before feeding the baby. Also try to gradually wean the baby. Make your breasts less available for nursing. Stop wearing nursing clothes like nursing bras or nursing tops etc. Shorten each nursing session before stopping it completely. Postpone breast feeding sessions. Substitute food and drinks in place of breast feeding. Thanks and take care
