You need to trust the doctor if doubt take a second opinion by a doctor and not google many a times google does misguide .
Every individual is different and many factors determine the weight gain as well ..
Have healthy foods and take a balanced meal over all and not priories protein alone .. you can also opt for dry fruits and mix in milk and have as well .. also eggs and non veg if preferred are also good quality protein and dals and lentils such as channa , rajma , sprouts as well
