There should be a 2-3 hour window between eating sessions and a total of 5-6 eating opportunities during the day. Create a positive feeding environment. Avoid distractions like TV, laptop, tablet and mobile phones. Put the toys away and create a quiet environment so your toddler can give all of his attention to eating. Sit with your kid during meals. The kid will learn to eat after watching you enjoy foods cooked by you. Offer all different food groups - grains, fruits, vegetables, protein, and dairy foods throughout the day and plan to include them at each meal. Let your kid explore food, get messy with it and have some independence and autonomy with eating and choosing foods. Offer small portions of food and offer more only when he or she asks for more.
