#asktheexpert My child is eating soil i m again n again stoping him not to eat but he crave for it i m giving calcium strup to him but his craving is not stoping nor reducing

ExpertDr. Mohammed imranPaediatrician4 years agoA. hi parent u have a kid aged 2 years , consumption of non nutritious substances is know n as pica , this behaviour is seen in somebabies , usually associated with iron deficiency anemia, so one can give iron syp for such conditions, also deworming for the baby must be done

The reason could either be deficiency or it could be because of some behavioral issues
Investigate the cause by testing if she's not having any deficiency
if she's deficient , she can be given supplements as per pediatricians advise
Take sunbath daily with her head and ears covered
Don't use RO water as it's demineralized
use simply purified water having TDS higher than 350
