What You Can Do at Home: Use saline nasal drops – A few drops in each nostril can loosen the mucus. Wait a minute, then gently suction it out using a bulb syringe or nasal aspirator. Keep the air moist – Use a cool-mist humidifier in the room to prevent the air from drying out your baby's nasal passages. Elevate the head slightly – While supervised and awake, holding your baby at a slight incline can help with breathing. Keep baby upright – Carry your baby upright on your shoulder for some time, which helps clear the nose naturally. Important: Avoid using any vapor rubs or medications unless prescribed. If your baby is struggling to feed, has a high fever, is breathing very fast, or seems very uncomfortable, please see your pediatrician immediately.
