#asktheexpert my baby sometimes moving his hand near ear and trying to rub it. I check his ear left one is clear and in right some small amount dust was there so cleaned it with cotton. but still he is doing same. some times rubbing his nose also. what could be the reason? he is 7 months old

Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 4 m old boy12 months agoA. rubbing of ear as well as itching of the ears is totally normal.
if the child is not crying do not worry about it and to decrease the itching sensation you can apply coconut oil over skin of ear.
do not use earbuds to clean the internal ear cavity.
external ear can be cleaned with the help of clean cotton cloth.
treatment is given only if the child is cryingd with pain while itching.
for pain you can give paracetamol.
the most common cause would be due to either referred teething pain or due to dry skin of the ears.
