#AskTheExpert My baby's having High fever over 100 what can i do ... I have paracetamol 250mg/5ml shall. i give that or else go for some other medicine

Author of questionMom of a 3 yr 6 m old boy3 years agoA. He's also going watery type stool 4 to 5 tome in. a day as earlier he used to stool once a day and also having gastic problem what should I do for tha??

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children3 years agoA. Fever is a reaction of the body to different pyrogens released during any Infection. Usually temp more than 99 F is taken as fever . Mostly in children fever is because of viral infections like flu or RSV where the fever is there for 4-5 days but may persist even upto 2 weeks . Initially antipyretic like paracetamol is given in a dose of 15 mg / kg/ dose. Can be repeated after 4-6 hrs if needed .other medifcine like mefenamic acid ibuprofen can also be given . Lukewarm sponge bath can be given as home remedy to decrease fever. Adequate fluid intake is also beneficial. Urirne output monitoring is necessary to avoid dehydration .
