#asktheexpert my baby is not taking BM more than 5 mins every hour or even less and not even taking formula milk easily he start playing everytime whenever we start feeding him. please suggest what to do

shilpa vaddiMom of a 4 yr 4 m old boy4 years agoA. if your baby's born weight is under 3kg then 5.8 is not bad for 4month old baby.. people say baby's growth will be rapid during first three months after that gaining weight decreases.. anyways pediatrician will let you know if he is under weight, you can check that with doc.

he is taking milk but not more than 5 mins when is awake while he is sleeping he takes approximately 30 mins sometimes.
he is 4 month 12 days old and weight is 5.8 which is less I think for a boy

Even my baby is behaving same when it comes to feeding.. initially even I was worried but your baby is taking milk every hour or so then absolutely nothing to worry.,( just check if milk is coming from the same breast after he finishes.. if no, then try giving him from another side and see if he drinks) after 2 months babies can get enough milk just by 5min of sucking. you can try feeding him again in 5- 10 min gap, see if he takes milk if he doesn't then he's full. No need to force. Do not give formula if your milk production is good.. Also if his weight is appropriately increasing then just feed him on demad.
