Q.

#AskTheExpert my baby is just 9days old.her bilirubin value is 12.7.is it normal?

A. it's not normal. it is called physiological jaundice..and very common in newborn..It will subside by it's own by the end of second week. Just breast feed your baby two to three hourly and on demand.consult ur doctor he will guide u in this matter

A. Newborn jaundice occurs when a baby has a high level of bilirubin in the blood. Bilirubin is a yellow substance that the body creates when it replaces old red blood cells. The liver helps break down the substance so it can be removed from the body in the stool.
