#asktheexpert My baby is 16 days old now and bilirubin level is 10.10 in which conjugated is 1.32. When will jaundice go away and is there any need of phototherapy?

A. no further phototherapy required at this level. there is always a chance of neonatal jaundice in small children within one or maximum 2 weeks of birth in which the skin as the eyes may appear yellow. you have to meet the doctor for evaluation of the jaundice. normal simple jaundice will go away on its own with only breastfeeding but if it is more your doctor will advise phototherapy. the yellowness from the eyes may take around 1 to 1 and half month to totally go away.
