#AskTheExpert my baby girl is now 5 months old. she is 5.5 kgs now. her birth weight was 2.75kgs. do I need to worry about my daughter's weight?

A. it's optimum it should double the birth weight by 5 months of age Weight gain depeens upon birth weight and maturity of the baby if the baby is active and feeding adequately don't worry about it feed for 10 to 15 min from each side

A. Ideally, babies should gain 140-200 gms of weight in the initial months and by 5th month, it should double the birth weight. According to this, your baby's weight gain is fine. Now, 200-250 gms increase per week will be considered good. You can now also include some semi solid or oureed foods too in the diet as it will also help in gaining healthy weight.
