POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy8 months agoA. Red spots on a 20-day-old baby’s face are common and can be caused by a few things, such as:
1. Newborn acne (Neonatal acne): Small red or white bumps on the face, often on the cheeks, chin, or forehead. This usually clears up on its own within a few weeks to a few months.
2. Milia: Tiny white or yellowish cysts that often appear on the nose or cheeks. These also go away naturally after a short time.
3. Erythema Toxicum: A rash with red spots and blotchy patches that is common in newborns and usually disappears within a few days or weeks.
What to Do:
Avoid applying anything harsh: Do not apply any creams, oils, or lotions unless recommended by your pediatrician, as the baby’s skin is very sensitive.
Keep the skin clean: Gently clean your baby’s face with lukewarm water and a soft cloth. Avoid scrubbing or using soap.
Monitor: If the spots don’t improve or seem to worsen, or if other symptoms like fever or discomfort appear, consult your pediatrician.
In most cases, these spots will fade on their own without the need for treatment.
