#asktheexpert Is TCV i.e Typhoid vaccine mandatory to be given after 6 months to a child

A. yes typhoid vaccine can be given anytime after completion of 6 months of age of the child. as per the new guidelines you have to give only one dosage for typhoid conjugate vaccine. the other typhoid vaccine is known as ftyphoid polysaccharide vaccine and it is given after 2 years of age and is repeated every 3 yearly. in the present scenario it is advisable to go for only typhoid conjugate vaccine.

A. Typhoid vaccination is not mandatory but it is good if you get it done because it is going to actually protect your child from typhoid virus and infection in the longer run so I would suggest you to get it done rest would be completely your choice
