A. For a newborn baby, it is generally recommended to wake them up for feeding every 2-3 hours, especially in the first few weeks. However, if your baby is gaining weight well and has no medical concerns, it may be okay to let them sleep for 4 hours occasionally at night. When to Wake Up for Feeding: If your baby is less than 2 weeks old, wake them up every 2-3 hours to ensure proper weight gain. If your baby was born underweight or premature, frequent feeding is necessary. If your baby is not gaining enough weight, avoid long gaps between feeds. When You Can Let Them Sleep Longer: If your pediatrician confirms healthy weight gain and your baby is active when awake. After 1 month of age, some babies naturally start sleeping longer at night. Signs Baby Needs More Feeding: Less than 6 wet diapers per day. Baby is sleepy, irritable, or not active when awake. Slow weight gain or not latching properly.
