Q.

#asktheexpert I have taken 6 months influenza vaccine from India and they told after 1 month take the second dose of the influenza vaccine.due to travelling to Saudi Arabia I was not able to take the second dose on time.now baby is about to be 8 months.i will be back only at 11 month.is it oke If I take the 2nd dose vaccine at that time?

A. Influenza vaccine or the flu vaccine is basically a vaccine which protects against different strains of flu viruses including swine Flu virus which causes symptoms specially in children because of less immunity. Though it is not a mandatory vaccine but it should be given to every child to protect against different flu infection which is very commtyon every year . this vaccine is given after 6 months of age and initially two doses are given one month apart then every year single dose is required . It is not documenyted but still studies suggest that to some extent it may give partial protection against covid infection .
