I was diagnosed with border level GD in my 28th week. The following helped -
1. Absolutely no sugar in ur diet.
2. Replace white rice with brown rice
3. Eat Ragi chappatis, ragi khakra
4. If you can eat bitterguord vegetable everyday. Bitterguord brings down ur sugar level
5. Always include protien like panner in ur diet
6. Drink a glass of water before meal and 30 mins after meals.
7. *walk for atleast 20 mins after every meal. This will definitely bring ur sugars down*
8. Walk for the entire day as much as you can.
Mothers weight gain is not important. Baby's growth is important. I didn't gain even 100 grams after 28 weeks until 39th week, but my son was born healthy.
Do not stop cabs completely in your diet, since that will reduce the growth overall. You need carbs, protiens and fats in proper quantity. If you are unsure of how to maintain a balance it is good to see a dietitian who can help you thru this.
Fasting levels are something that can't be controlled with diet. Ensure u eat snacks before bed and immediately get up and check ur sugars to get the correct numbers. If you get up and don't immediately get the levels checked, the body will start dumping sugars and your numbers would always be high.
