Q.

#AskTheExpert I had emergency C section and delivered baby on Nov 16 2020. I have two concerns. First one is, I want to reduce the extra weight that I gained and reduce saggy belly. Can I start with exercises now? Second one is, I have not got my periods yet. Is it normal; when do we get periods generally after delivery.

A. Hello good morning !! After delivery it takes 5-6 months to recover either normal or C-section . Particularly in c-section it is advisable to avoid weight lifting, exercises, standing long hours for 5-6 months. As you have delivered 3 months before start with walking 15-20 minutes daily and have fruits and vegetables in diet, avoid junk, oily foods . Breast feed your baby,it's the best and easiest way to reduce weight. generally periods starts 5-8 months in case of c-section but few will gets early or delay depending on Haemoglobin level, body type and hereditary. No need to worry have Iron rich foods in diet. Use contraceptive methods as there are high chances of getting pregnancy after delivery.
