Q.

#AskTheExpert Hi sir, My daughter will be 2years old by this week. She speaks only single words. Understands whatever we speak and follows commands. But not speaking much. Should I be worried and go for speech therapy? I can see her peers who speak more than her. Should I wait more? She speaks certain single words and identifies whatever we teach her.. But, when I teach her to talk she doesn't try to imitate. Please help.

A. Regarding Speech Baby usually start mono syllable by 6 to 7 months of age then by syllable words come by 9 to 10 months of age then by 12 to 14 months of age baby say two to three words followed by jargon speech at 15-16 months . child can start saying simple sentences by two years of age . just make the child comfortable and dno more interaction with the child so that he can learn to speak sentences properly. if the speech does not comes even by three years of age you need to consult your doctor for a proper assessment of the child .
