#AskTheExpert hi… my son is of 4yrs n 4months From last 2 months he is having cold n cough… I was giving him Homeopatic i tried that for a month kuch farak nahi pada so allopathy ma gayi again n took medicine 1st allgera n macberry ls… Then after 10 days i told dr that it didnot work so he changed allegra into sryup relent Plz suggest what to do

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children3 years agoA. Cough along with Cold most of the time is a viral illness and it needs supportive care along with proper hydration. you can give steam inhalation which is very useful .
cough needs to be treated with anti allergic and expectorant bronchodilators or antitussives medicine whjgich should be given only after a proper evaluation by the doctor according to the type of cough.
if fever is there pacracetamol can be given to reduce the fever and the dose can be repeated after 6 hours again if required .
