Q.

#asktheexpert Hi Doctor, my baby umbilical cord falling off around 17th day, belly button seems to be fine. but a small amount tissue is on the belly button. is this umbilical granuloma? if yes do we need to treat it ?

A. umbilical granuloma / umbilical polyp they are usually remnants of umbilicus post delivery. usually does not require any type of major treatment except neosporine powder applicatifon or t-bact cream application and maintenance of hygiene and proper cleanliness. if itf continues to persist beyond 6 months of age requires surgical intervention like quarterization or ligation removal
