#asktheexpert Hi Doctor, My baby is 5 months 3 weeks old and gaining weight only 300gms per month on average. birth weight is 3.1, and now the weight is 5.6kg. Started Solids 2 times a day. is the weight gain normal? And to take MMR vaccine in 9th month, is there any criteria that baby weight should be atleast 7kg. can you please confirm

AbhayaMom of a 15 yr 8 m old boy12 months agoA. Hello there maam please do not worry about it too much. Baby weight depends on birth weight and normally doubles by the age of six months and triples by the age of one year. If baby is active and taking feed properly then no need to panic. Mother should take healthy food items including fresh fruits and dry fruits.
