#asktheexpert Hi Doctor. For how long should a newborn be burped for after every meal? And how many burps is expected? Also, what is the meal plan for a 40 day old baby in terms of mother's feed and formula on a daily basis? Thank you

ExpertDr Laxmi Chavan-SawantAyurvedic Gynaecologist 2 years agoA. Feed ur baby with proper position. Burp properly after each and every feed for at least 10 min or till baby take 4 burps Give Tummy time 4-5 times in a day time If still issue persist then Give colic aid drops 0.5 ml (if needed). Maximum 4times per day.

POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 9 m old boy2 years agoA. Try burping your baby every 2 to 3 ounces (60 to 90 milliliters) if you bottle-feed and each time you switch breasts if you breastfeed. Try burping your baby every ounce during bottle-feeding or every 5 minutes during breastfeeding if your baby: tends to be gassy. spits a lot.
