#AskTheExpert Hello, my daughter developed symptoms of Hand Foot and mouth disease. we showed the doctor but she confirmed that it was not. I want to know if a child is infected once, can it reoccur and if yes then in what duration gap and precautions to be taken to prevent it.

A. Hand foot mouth disease is viral in origin and mostly symptomatic treatment is required because it is a self limiting disease and here fever come and small eruptions may be seen in hands foot face and other parts of the body along with oral ulcerations so givehy plenty of liquids to maintain proper hydration and maintain a good hygiene . Some multivitamin syrup along with antihistamine can be given . For oral ulcer dologel can be applied locally
