#AskTheExpert Hello My baby is 3months and 5days old. Can I take Covid vaccine? Will it affect my baby in any way ?

A. Covid vaccination like covishield/ covaxin in the breastfeeding mothers can be given very safely . According to the latest guidelines issued by healthy ministry pregnant women can also be now safely given the current available vaccines . so they can also register at covin app. Minor complications like fever lethargy pain at injection site can be handled safely by taking paracetamol . Presently children are not included in this list. Mothers can feed thvceir child bas soon as required after the vaccination very safely with no side effects in the child

A. You can get vaccinated for Covid while breastfeeding the baby without any hesitation. Infact, it will help in developing antibodies to fight against infections like this in the future. Just make sure to take all necessary precautions before and after coming from outside and feed the baby beforehand so that he does not remain hungry for long time.
