Q.

#asktheexpert Hello doctor..my baby girl is 6 months 28 days means almost 7 months old.. actually I want to ask what should be the time gap between two food items for example if I give her a Cerelac at 12:00 p.m...So can I give her ragi porridge or a banana at 3:00 p.m..????.One more thing what should be the quantity of a Cerelac or a Ragi porridg means how much they eat at this age means a small bowl or cup and how can we come to know that their stomach is full...

A. yes u cn 2.5 to 3 hour gap is fine After your baby has completed 6 month of age, you can gradually start weaning foods. Keep in mind that weaning is a gradual and time taking process and baby takes time to switch to foods, other than breast milk. You can start with rice porridge, Ragi porridge. Also you can give mashed fruits like chikoo, banana, papaya, pureed Apple, etc. You should avoid giving animal milk to the baby before he is 1 year old and also avoid salt and sugar for him till that age. Simple homemade foods which are easy to digest fresh ,Cerelac nestum can be offered. keep giving water also after 6 month complete and breast feeding to be continued too.
