#AskTheExpert Hello doctor. Good morning My one year old daughter has 7.8kg weight only, her birth weight was 3kg. As i know, her weight should be triple to the birth weight by one year. she is so active and eats well but not gaining weight. please suggest.

A. Dear parent, if your baby is active, playful and achieving all growth milestones then it indicates good health, do not worry about weight. For healthy weight gain, give homemade balanced diet having variety of food groups especially seasonal fruits and vegetables even green leafy vegetables. At least 500 ml of full cream top milk every day including milk products like curd, paneer, cheese. You can give eggs and non veg foods. Add powdered nuts like almonds to baby’s food. Add ghee to every meal. Continue to breastfeed. Give top food 4 to 5 times a day and up to one katori every time.
