Q.

#asktheexpert hello doc, my 10 month boy had recurrent UTI past 3 months. Done MCUG as he had bifid system in right kidney, but the report is normal. We are advised to give antibiotics for 6 months despite of normal report and no UTI currently. Could you please let us know what could be the reason for prescribing prolonged antibiotics. If not taken will it cause any harm. Please advice.

A. if your doctor has advised you for antibiotics use then you need to continue accordingly.. offer more liquids and fruits for adequate hydration. limit use of diapers.. give medications on time

A. Hello parent It’s actually quite a long course for such a small child I don’t know the beauty I was quiet day which is why the doctors do not want to take a chance that it should happen again but still you know I would advise you to take a second opinion over the same because these medicines should not be taken for such a long time so it’s best to consult another doctor
