POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy7 months agoA. White rashes on a baby's face can have several causes. Here are some common ones:
Milia:
Small, white bumps on a baby’s face, often seen on the nose, chin, or cheeks. They occur when dead skin cells get trapped in tiny pockets on the skin. Milia are harmless and usually disappear on their own within a few weeks.
Eczema (Atopic Dermatitis):
Eczema can cause dry, red, itchy patches of skin. Sometimes the patches may appear white or scaly. It is common in babies and can be triggered by irritants like soaps, detergents, or changes in temperature.
Baby Acne:
Small white or red pimples can appear on a baby's face, typically on the cheeks, forehead, or chin. Baby acne usually resolves on its own within a few weeks to months.
Heat Rash (Prickly Heat):
If your baby is overheated or sweating, you might see white or red rashes, usually on the face, neck, or chest. It’s common in hot weather or when babies wear too many clothes.
Allergic Reaction:
An allergy to a new food, product (like lotions or wipes), or fabric can cause rashes that may be white or red. If the rash spreads or worsens, it could be a sign of an allergy.
What to Do:
Keep the skin clean and dry: Gently wash your baby’s face with lukewarm water and mild baby soap. Avoid irritants: Use fragrance-free and gentle skincare products designed for babies. Dress appropriately: Ensure your baby is not overheated and wears breathable fabrics. Moisturize: Use a mild baby moisturizer if the skin seems dry or irritated.
If the rash persists, gets worse, or is accompanied by other symptoms like fever, swelling, or pain, it's best to consult your pediatrician to rule out other conditions and get appropriate treatment.
