#asktheexpert for my baby have cold..which medicine can I give to my baby??

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children2 years agoA. Cold most of the time is a viral illness where there could be running nose sneezing along with cough and it needs supportive care along with proper hydration . steam inhalation will also be useful in this .
cough needs to be treated with anti allergic and expectorant bronchodilators or antitussives medicine which should be used once a proper evaluation by the doctor is done and according to the type of cough its presgycribed.
if any fever is thegre paracetamol can be given to reduce the temperature and the dose can be repeated again after 6 hours if required .

if symptoms are mild then no need of medicine
please give plenty of breastfeeds to your child which contains antibodies which help your child to fight against such Infection
give Indirect steam inhalation twice in a day
