A. The first semi-solid food for a 6-month-old baby should be light, easy to digest, and given in small quantities. Start with single-ingredient foods like rice cereal, moong dal soup, mashed banana, apple puree, or well-cooked suji (semolina) porridge. Offer food once a day initially, then gradually increase to 2–3 times a day. A basic food chart can include: Morning: Breast milk/formula Mid-morning: Mashed fruit (banana/apple) Lunch: Rice or dal water, mashed khichdi Evening: Vegetable puree or suji porridge Night: Breast milk/formula Introduce only one new food every 3–5 days to check for allergies and always keep the texture soft and smooth.
