Q.

#AskTheExpert During pregnancy my TSH value was 5.36, doctor prescribed 25 mcg Thyronorm tablets. Does fetus was affected from this dose. After few weeks TSH was 2.56. still medicine recommend. after delivery on 20th december should I continue this thyroid medicine and if yes till how many weeks I had to continue. After baby's TSH test value is 33. Is my 10 days old girl baby have thyroid or not.

A. The TSH is quite elevated for your baby but it is not usually considered hypothyroidism unless it is more than 40 but still you have to consult your pediatrician and have a talk. Taking medication during pregnancy will not harm your baby. Please get your thyroid profile done after the birth of your baby also and if it is within normal limits then you have to continue the medicationWrite Your Answer Here
