#AskTheExpert Could you please highlight the benefits of breastfeeding post 6 months . Most families discourage breastfeeding post 6 months as baby is older and started solid food.

A. By continuing breastfeeding beyond six months, you lower your lifelong risk of developing heart disease,type 2 diabetesand cancers of the breast, ovaries and uterus.And breastfeeding mums often find their periods don't return for many months – and possibly for as long as two years.
