Fruits rich in Vitamin C: Offer oranges, guava, amla (Indian gooseberry), papaya, and kiwi. These boost immunity and fight infections.
Warm foods: Homemade soups (like chicken or vegetable soup), khichdi, and dal-rice with ghee are soothing and nutritious.
Tulsi and Honey (for kids above 1 year): Mix a few drops of tulsi (holy basil) juice with honey to soothe cough and support immunity.
Ginger and turmeric: Add a pinch of turmeric to warm milk or food. Ginger tea (mild and diluted) can also help in older kids.
Dry fruits and nuts: Soaked almonds, walnuts, and dates boost strength and energy.
Probiotics: Curd/yogurt supports gut health and immunity. Offer in small amounts if not cold-sensitive.
Avoid: Too many sweets, processed foods, cold drinks, and ice cream.
Also, ensure your child gets enough rest, sunlight, and water, and keep them warm. If cold and cough persist for more than 7–10 days, consult your pediatrician for further evaluation.
