A. It can be concerning when a 7-month-old baby refuses food, but it’s quite common and often temporary. At this age, babies are still getting most of their nutrition from breast milk or formula, and solids are mainly for taste and texture exploration. Here are some gentle tips to help: 1. Check for Common Reasons: Teething: Can make babies fussy and reduce appetite. Illness or discomfort: Cold, cough, stomach upset, or ear pain can affect eating. Constipation: Can reduce hunger. Too much milk: If baby is drinking too much milk, she may not feel hungry for solids. 2. Offer Small Amounts & Be Patient: Start with 1–2 teaspoons of mashed fruits like banana, apple, or vegetables like carrot or sweet potato. Try offering solids after a little milk, not when she's full. Don’t force-feed—stop if she turns her head or spits it out. 3. Try Different Textures and Foods: Some babies don’t like certain textures. Try: Mashed banana Apple puree Moong dal water Rice cereal Ragi porridge 4. Make Mealtime Fun: Use a colorful bowl and spoon. Sing or talk while feeding. Sit together during family meals so baby watches and learns. 5. Create a Routine: Offer solids at a fixed time daily (e.g., after morning nap and evening).
