Q.

#AskTheExpert Am having swelling in the aereola part. So baby is finding difficult to latch on right breast to feed. My gyano suggested antibiotics but it dint work out. Am giving regular warm water to my breast to reduce swelling. How to reduce swelling and make my baby to feed easily?

A. It can be due to clogged milk duct. When the supply is more than the demand, the milk that is not let out accumulates inside and blocks the milk ducts which cause pain and tenderness. Massage the breasts from outward towards nipple in circular motion. Put warm compress over the area and express out milk. Avoid wearing tight bras and underwire bras. Wear a bra which provides good support. Stay hydrated and drink lots of water, juices and soups.
