#asktheexpert 11Month Baby Boy , Having High Fever since 3 days , on the first day of fever , vomiting start and baby is getting weakened day by day, not eating anything.

Author of questionGuardian of a 3 yr old boy2 years agoA. Our Doctor Suggested us to have A Dengue test of baby , Is it possible baby is having dengue, because he has more than 100°C fever From last few days

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children2 years agoA. Fever is a reaction of the body to different pyrogens released during any Infection. Usually temp more than 99 F is taken as fever . Mostly in children fever is because of viral infections like flu or RSV where the fever is there for 4-5 days but may persist even upto 2 weeks . Initially antipyretic like paracetamol is given in a dose of 15 mg / kg/ dose. Can be repeated after 4-6 hrs if needed . Lukewdhoarm sponge bath can be given as home remedy to decrease fever. Adequate fluid intake is also beneficial. Urine output monitoring is necessary to avoid dehydration .
