#askthedoctor my son is having the grunting sound from his birth. now he is 2.5 months old, how to differentiate between the grunting sound and cold. kindly help me

Cold is most of the time because of viral illness and if the child is having recurrent running nose and nasal congestion it may be a part of allergic rhinitis also so it needs a proper examination. steam inhalation will be beneficial in both the cases along with decongestanthf medicine like alex cold/ hatric 3/ sinarest. As a part of viral illness there could be associated symptoms like cough and fever which needs treatment accordingly along with a proper hydration needs to be maintained .

Nothing to worry as long as your baby is active and healthy, accepting feeds, passing adequate urine a minimum 6 to 8 times a day. Continue breastfeeding your baby well on demand. Regularly massage your baby with Babyhug daily massage oil for skin warmth. Good luck and take care.
