Yes, they are treated differently. Though we as a parent accept them whom so ever but there are people who incline towards a boy.
One because of our culture and tradition where girl should take care of the in-law preferences at the priority post marriage. There are multiple rituals which can be performed by male as per belief from ages. So we basically made the society as male dominant who are physically strong. So most of the people desire to have boys
