Gurpurab Name Meaning

The name Gurpurab is of Punjabi origin and holds great significance in Sikhism. It is derived from two words: "Gur," meaning Guru (referring to Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism), and "Purab," meaning festival or celebration. Therefore, Gurpurab translates to "Festival of the Guru" or "Celebration of the Guru."

Gurpurab is mainly used to refer to the birth anniversaries of the ten Sikh Gurus. Sikhism considers these occasions as spiritual milestones and celebrates them with great enthusiasm and devotion. The most widely celebrated Gurpurab is Guru Nanak Dev Ji's, which falls on Kartik Purnima (full moon day of the month Kartik, according to the Hindu calendar).
