I am Dr Bhavya, mother of a 5-month-old baby. I am writing this blog to share my experience of pregnancy. My beautiful 9-month-long journey towards motherhood gave me beautiful memories, pregnancy stretch marks being one of them.
My pregnancy stretch marks will always be a reminder of my pregnancy days, of the time when I carried my baby. We love pregnancy stretch marks for they are a sign of something beautiful – they tell a story of a new life. But deep down, we also dream of flawless skin and a beautiful tummy, so that we can wear those pretty crop tops and sarees, and look beautiful as always.
I read a lot of articles on products that help reduce or prevent marks during pregnancy. And I tried a few of them, but they didn’t work. Then I gave a try to this magic oil called Bio-Oil. I applied this oil once a day, soon after bathing, from 20th day of my delivery. And the results were amazing, trust me. Mark my words ladies and please do try out this product.
You can even try out our traditional methods which have been there since ages, used by our grandmothers and great grandmothers. The traditional remedy involves coconut oil. Heat some coconut oil and mix a good amount of turmeric powder (preferably homemade) in it. Massage your body with this oil, especially on the area where you have stretch marks and where there is pigmentation due to pregnancy. I have tried it, and trust me it works wonders. It will keep your skin moisturised and give it a nice glow.
The combination of coconut oil and turmeric powder works as a body scrub and lightens the appearance of stretch marks too. You can try out these remedies, but make sure you eat healthy too. Include lots of veggies in your diet and fruits that are high in antioxidants. Antioxidant-rich fruits can help repair your skin cells and rejuvenate it.
Also, drink a lot of water and keep your body and skin hydrated. Keeping your body hydrated will prevent and reduce the appearance of stretch marks and pigmentation.
