My Experience of Being a First-Time Modern Mom
When a woman gives birth, two people are born – a mother and a child, and the mother’s entire attention shifts towards the baby.
After my daughter was born, I noticed some small and funny behavioural changes in me – a modern mom.
Then – Used to wishlist stylish clothes for me.
Now – Wishlist cute clothes for my daughter/
Then – Used to look for cosmetics for me.
Now – Explore baby products for my daughter.
Then – Used to try out different hairstyles on me.
Now – Trying them out on my daughter.
Then – Used to have a hundred selfies on my phone.
Now – I have more than a thousand photos and videos of my baby.
Then – Used to eat food that I find yummy.
Now – Eating the food that is safe for my baby during breastfeeding.
Then – Used to wake up in the morning to check my emails.
Now – Waking up to check to change the diaper.
Then – Whenever I left home, I would be carefree.
Now – As soon as I leave home, I miss my baby and her smile.
Then – On opening my phone, I used to scroll for discounts on jewellery, dresses, bags and shoes.
Now – The scrolling is happening for stuff like diapers, sleepwear for babies, toys, etc.
Then – Used to have a sleep schedule.
Now – My schedule depends on my baby’s sleep.
Then – Used to spend hours pampering myself.
Now – Spend the time pampering my baby.
I have also adopted new habits like following parenting pages, watching videos on baby tips, googling for solutions for baby-related queries, and much more.
I’m sure that these small changes will increase as my child grows. There will be bigger changes, too, which I am yet to experience.
Motherhood is a beautiful feeling. The beauty is about feeling happy in taking care of my child more than taking care of myself.
This is the definition of unconditional love.
