it is usually present due to the throat mucus / thick saliva as well as respiratory secretions
which pass on from respiratory tract (parts of nasal cavity , oral cavity and throat) to the gastrointestinal tract by swallowing and then comes out through the anal canal mixed with the stool.
it may be present in less xquantity during regular times and would be in more quantity during allergy as well as cough and cold in the child.
mucus in the stool is also associated with gastrointestinal infections as a less constipation as well as indigestion.
treatment is usually given according to the cause
NikithaMom of a 10 yr 9 m old boy1 Year agoA. hello it can be if the child is having cold and cough and it is usually normal and nothing to worry but any concern it would be better to check your doctor and she can guide you accordingly and nothing to worry about plot a problem
