A. Hair loss in babies is very common and because of many reasons. Because of the withdrawal maternal hormone initial hairfall is there. After birth all the hair of the baby remain in the resting phase and usually by 8 to 12 weeks of age shedding of hairs is there in them . Hairs will grow back mostly by 3-7 months but a proper quality hair will be there by around 2 years of age. Cradle cap is also a cause for frequent shedding of hairs. along with traction alopecia because of continuous pressure on head in lying position

A. In the first 6 months after birth, a baby will lose what is known as birth hair. This is the hair that a baby is born with, and this hair is meant to fall off. Do not tie braids that are too tight. Use a mild shampoo and do not shampoo your baby's hair everyday as it can dry the scalp.
